Accessibility of podcasts and podcasting

Ailbhe Conneely interviews Brian Rothery, an 86 year old man who has had to cope with losing his sight late in life. Brian has grasped the opportunities offered by different technologies to retain a measure of independence at home. He uses Alexa devices to activate timers and switches to operate devices in the kitchen or to tune into radio broadcasts. With the support of his carer and family he remains active in spite of the Covid19 restrictions. Interestingly, Brian has started recording a series of podcasts. Brian has form with technology, he worked at IBM and CIE in the 1960s before pivoting to a career in media and publishing (techarchives.irish).
